What is NPS?

NPS (National Pension System) is a government-backed retirement savings scheme that invests in equity, corporate bonds, and government securities to build a retirement corpus.

What are NPS tax benefits?

NPS offers: ₹1.5 lakh under 80CCD(1) within 80C limit + additional ₹50,000 under 80CCD(1B). Employer contribution up to 10% of salary under 80CCD(2).

What is the minimum NPS contribution?

Minimum ₹1,000 per year for Tier 1. No minimum for Tier 2. You need at least 1 contribution per year to keep account active.

Can I withdraw before retirement?

Partial withdrawal allowed after 3 years for specific purposes (education, medical, house). Up to 25% of own contributions can be withdrawn.
